A deadly knife attack broke out in an economics class on September 14, 2018 at Fitzgerald High School in Warren, Michigan. Instantly, a teacher sprang into action to control the situation. A student wielding a knife violently attacked another student. Unfortunately, the injuries the victim sustained were fatal.

The economics teacher, who chased the attacker out of the room, had recently completed ALICE training. She responded and chased the knife-wielding girl out of the classroom. She quickly locked the door to keep the attacker out. The suspect was apprehended, and no other injuries occurred in this incident.

We keep the victim of this incident close to our hearts. We strive to minimize fatalities and work to empower individuals every day. We honor the teacher who chased the attacker our of the room as quickly as she could. She saved lives that day with her courageous actions and prevented more fatalities.
