Like many school districts, Hermitage School District is moving toward freeing teachers to make decisions during crises. The district has adopted the so-called ALICE approach to responding to acts of violence within schools, Director of Curriculum Brian Schaller told the school board Monday. ALICE stands for “alert,” “lockdown,” “inform,” “counter” and “evacuate.” “Empowering our staff to make decisions to help teachers and their students is very important,” Schaller said. Read more
