The St. Clairsville School District hosted active shooter training for area schools Monday. Representatives from Fox Run, Sargus, Oak View, and Juvenile Court. The demonstration included enacting a genuine shooting situation, pointing out weaknesses outlining effective responses. They employ the Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate (ALICE) method. In the shooting simulation, a message went out informing students and staff where the perpetrator was so they might act accordingly. A simulated hostage situation followed. Trainers compared old-style lock down, where the students and staff were vulnerable and casualties were very high. Read more
