Area Universities Review Active Shooter Procedure

MSSU and PSU- Joplin, MO

After an Oregon community college shooting left 10 dead and 7 injured on Thursday, questions regarding the safety and security at 4-state area campuses have arisen. MSSU and PSU have numerous armed officers on campus, and have executed multiple drills in the event of an active shooter situation. Ken Kennedy, University Police Chief at MSSU, tells News Talk KZRG that he teaches ALICE. “ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. In that program I teach what to do if somebody walks into their classroom with a handgun, and we train them how to throw things at his face.
