School board- Dover, VT
School board chair Rich Werner, members Chip Vicary and Jollene Mahon, and Dover School principal Bill Anton met Monday evening at the board’s regular meeting and discussed new safety procedures among other topics. Anton said that he had attended training on ALICE, which he explained is a new safety protocol. The acronym stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate, and is primarily concerned with response to a shooter in a public space. He noted that in this new protocol, a teacher could make the decision to evacuate a classroom if they saw an opportunity to safely do so, instead of remaining in lockdown. Read more
