The recent active shooter event in a New Jersey mall has sparked the Cedar Rapids community to question their malls’ active shooter preparedness. The Cedar Rapids Police Department advocates ALICE training as a standard safety protocol in hopes that their malls will adopt and implement it to create a safer community for their residents. “It (ALICE) encourages someone trapped where theres an active shooter to find a way out if possible or even confront the suspect.
