The pastor at Trinity Baptist Church on the northeast side said his sermon this Sunday will remember those lives lost in the church massacre in South Carolina, as well as address security in the house of worship. Reverend Victor Davis said “the faith movement is under attack. The Bible teaches us to watch and pray.” That is why Davis said they have armed security at Trinity. Cliff Lake said churches pose unique challenges for security. “It’s a lot more problematic, more risky if a bad guy with ill intent and murder on his mind wants to go into the church where generally everybody is in the same room so it’s an unfortunate tactical situation.” Lake said churches could take a page from school districts that have improved their safety plans with lock downs, drills and ALICE training. He thinks security can be phased in and come in “layers.” Read more
