The Fridley Public School district has been working hard to “beef up” safety procedures and ensure student and faculty safety on campus. “The way that we handle intruders in our schools right now or the way that we have been by implementing lockdowns is not necessarily the best way to handle it,” said Fridley Middle School Liaison Officer Kinably. Over the summer, seven District 14 administrators and district personnel attended a two day training session at the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office where they became certified in the A.L.I.C.E. Procedure. “It is not meant to change current procedures, but to enhance our current policy and give options to respond to various scenarios,” said Fridley High School Assistant Principal Kelly McConville. “We are really excited to bring this to Fridley,” said McConville.
