What if lockdown doesn’t work? In recent weeks several Mayes County schools have been placed on precautionary lockdown- a sober reminder to county residents that catastrophe can strike when least expected. Though there were no school incidents, law enforcement urges preparedness for when an ordinary day turns disastrous. ALICE (alert, lockdown, inform, counter, evacuate) has been taught to area students, teachers and law enforcement but the same principles apply to businesses. “From all of these tragedies we learn something.
