In Kentucky, Kenton County school officials say they will continue to follow their emergency plan and evacuate the school if officials receive bomb threats as it did last week at Summit View Academy in Independence. “Each building and facility has its own safety plan. Students practice (evacuations) just like they practice for a tornado drill. Our students are not afraid because we practice these evacuations and they know what to do.” The district has also trained its 15,000 students, teachers, administrators, cafeteria workers, bus drivers and other employees in the ALICE – Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate –procedure for several emergency situations. “The Kenton County School District is arming our students with education,” Dykes explained.
