Labette Community College is providing active shooter training to better prepare community residents for life or death situations. Organizers are using the “ALICE” training method. “ALICE” stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Its tactics are used to increase your chances of surviving if a person with a gun enters a building. “Before you can act on something, you have to orient yourself to do what you want to do, then you have to decide that you’re going to do it, and then you do it.
