Lakota Turns to Law Enforcement to Fulfill Safety, Security Promise

A partnership between Lakota Local School District and local law enforcement is aimed at enhancing safety and security throughout the district’s schools. Police created a “Stranger Danger” video for younger children and conducted single officer response and tactical training, with the third step including student and teacher volunteers participating in on-site active shooter simulations. ALICE active shooter response training is used. Teachers at schools in West Chester Twp. also accustomed themselves to the sound of gunfire during a blanks-only simulated drill of ALICE, a system that aims to Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.
