School administrators at Mat-Su school district learned ALICE, the proactive approach to school shooter situations, because of concern over the limitations of a lockdown-only policy. Principal Amy Spargo said, “There are too many variables,” so school districts need to prepare students and staff to use all their resources in order to survive, and that hopefully, these tactics won’t have to ever be used.
