During a meeting the board heard from the schools Superintendent Joe Zydowsky that the district will be implementing a new safety protocol to deal with school fighting and violence, including active shooters, as such incidents are happening across the world. “We certainly don’t plan for an event to occur,” Zydowsky said. “We haven’t taken the opportunity to use technology to alert our staff and students to keep them well informed to make decisions in a crisis situation.” The district will use the ALICE system, which stands for Alert Lockdown Inform Counter and Evacuate.
