Neosho County Community College – Chanute, KS
The Neosho County Community College Board of Trustees’ December meeting was focused on updating board policy. The board approved making the college an ALICE protocol school. ALICE is a modern protocol for responding to active shooter situations. The acronym stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. NCCC President Brian Inbody said ALICE empowers individuals to take action in the event of a campus shooting. ALICE trains employees and students to do whatever is necessary to get out of a shooter’s reach. “It’s powerful training that could save lives,” Vice President of Operations Ben Smith said.
