Odell Grade School – Odell, IL

Odell Grade School staff and faculty attended a special training to help them better prepare for a potential crisis in its school. Browsing through newscasts in the past few years, many will notice numerous threats concerning anything from a shooter loose in the school to bomb threats, and those involved with Odell Grade School are now better prepared to handle a situation if one arises in his or her classroom. Mark Hetmansberger, superintendent at Odell Grade School, said he learned of the A.L.I.C.E. program last spring during superintendent meetings. The acronym, which stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate, teaches staff and faculty to more efficiently prepare for a time when the unthinkable may happen in the school. Read more
