The training has been in place for over a year now and has been widely accepted by the staff. Not only does it give them the options that they heed to keep themselves and their students safe, it just makes common sense. With ALICE, the best thing to do is to avoid the danger if at all possible, and that could be by exiting the building, or even the room that you are in by breaking a window and getting out of danger. Now specific locations are given to those in the building giving them an even better chance of escape,” commented Oskaloosa Lt. Craig Alexander. “ALICE also utilizes whatever is in the room to distract the attacker. If they are dodging things thrown at them, they cannot fully concentrate on the attack itself and that gives people the chance to escape.” Read more
