One man is in custody and another at-large after a “gun battle” in a south side Ypsilanti park within eyesight of a school for kindergartners. “We had a gun battle between two suspects, one is in custody and we’ve recovered a weapon and other evidence,” Lt. Tom Eberts said. Eberts said Perry School was immediately placed on lockdown after the report of shots fired was received by police. Students were in the building at the time of the incident. Ypsilanti Community Schools superintendent Laura Lisiscki said a teacher heard the shots fired outside and immediately did the things she was taught in ALICE training. Read more
