A parent meeting and public forum on the A.L.I.C.E.system to reacting to a potentially violent situation is at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6, in the South Dearborn High School auditorium. Parents and guardians from all South Dearborn Community School Corporation schools are highly encouraged to attend this meeting, said South Dearborn Middle School Assistant Principal Andrea Marine. Across the country over the past several years there has been an increase in school violence and school shootings. As the experts analyze these horrific events, it is apparent that more needs to be done. Steps need to be taken to try to prevent these events from occurring along with training students and staff on procedures that are needed that are needed to survive an active shooter in schools.
