South Umpqua Schools Adopt New Lockdown Procedure

In response to recent school shootings like the ones at Umpqua Community College and Sandy Hook, the South Umpqua School District is implementing a new lockdown procedure called A-L-I-C-E. n order to implement this procedure, district Superintendent Jim Howard says every employee – from bus drivers to administrators – is going through a training module to study A-L-I-C-E. There will be a training session for the teachers on March 28, followed by the first district-wide drill by the end of the month. bThis drill will allow district employees to teach students what to do in these situations.
