As the pounding of gunshots echoed through the hallways of Harding High School, teachers did what they had been taught for years: turn off the lights and hide in the corner. City school employees learned why that is a bad idea during the school district’s active shooter training session. The Marion Police Department partnered with local law enforcement agencies to showcase proper protocol during a crisis situation. “Our goal was to make our schools safer,” said Maj.
