Teachers, Students Training Through ALICE Program

Students and teachers in the North Providence school district are learning how to climb out windows, barricade doors and disrupt active shooters through a new nationally recognized training program called ALICE. Wayne Talbot, assistant principal at North Providence High School and certified ALICE instructor, said this training is a citizen’s response to a violent intruder. ALICE, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate, was introduced to the district earlier this year and gives students and staff information to “make a smart decision” during an emergency situation.
