Watkins Memorial High – Pataskala, OH

Students at Watkins Memorial High School on Friday will receive real-world training on how to respond to a school shooter. The so-called ALICE training, short for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate, will teach them how to respond in the event an armed gunman enters the Watkins Road campus. “Hopefully we practice it and we never have to use it,” Watkins Memorial Principal Ben Richards said. The training is not new, either nationally or at the high school. Southwest Licking Local Schools offered the training to all staff members during the 2013-14 school year.
