Children raced out of Winfield ISD Wednesday afternoon as a drill for their recently implemented ALICE protocol. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.  The drill is an emergency safety protocol created to get as many students as possible out of the building at the first sign of danger. Winfield enacted the protocol in the spring of 2014 and conducted their first drill, clearing the building in approximately three minutes. During their second drill completed yesterday, Superintendent Rhonda Burchinal said the entire school was evacuated in one minute and 38 seconds. Read more
