In an active shooter situation, many people can be killed or injured in the span of just a few minutes, which is why it’s so important to be prepared and know how to escape those situations. On Friday, Marion County Courthouse employees were trained in ALICE: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Those are the critical steps you need to take if you ever find yourself in an active shooter or violent intruder situation. “It’s a potential anywhere you go,” said Sabrina Haught, Captain Public Emeritus for the Marion County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. “It could be in the churches, it could be in the courthouse, it could be in the malls, it could be at Wal-Mart.
