Experts are doing everything they can to teach every day citizens survival skills if or when they encounter an active shooter. Shooter drills have been offered across the country, particularly for law enforcement. Goodwill Industries brought this training to Nebraska.  “Once the bad guy breaches the door, if all you’re doing is hiding, then you’re at his mercy,” said national trainer for ALICE, Joe Chavalia. ALICE – Alert – Lockdown – Inform – Counter – Evacuate, is a program is trying to move people away from the standard lockdown method, like hiding under a desk. “We have seen through countless examples like Columbine, Virgina Tech, Sandy Hook. The absolute massive numbers of individuals who have been killed and injured during those things doing nothing but that, hiding under a desk,” Chavalia said. Read more
