About 100 Arlington parents turned out last night for a presentation by Michele Gay, a former teacher who lost her daughter Josephine in the Sandy Hook Elemetary tragedy. Gay is co-founder of Safe & Sound: A Sandy Hook Initiative, a non-profit advocating for updated school safety protocol.about the new school threat response program ALICE, which advocates say protect students better than lockdowns do in crisis situations. “For us, those minutes that our children and teachers were alone in that building waiting for help were minutes we might have used better to protect them,” Gay said. “Simple measures are things that can save lives in those minutes.” Read more
