Bridgeport School District – Bellmont County, OH

Students in the Bridgeport School District were the first in all of Belmont County to receive ALICE training. It’s a strategy to help people survive an attack. Instead of locking down and waiting for law enforcement to arrive, students are taught to use special techniques. They can barricade their classrooms, throw things at the shooter, or evacuate if it’s safe. The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office conducted the drill. “It’s sad that we have to take time to do this,” Superintendent Ted Downing said. “But we’re all here for the safety of our kids. Anything we can continue to do to protect our students, we’re going to do.”
