Fairmont State University is getting help from a national agency to prepare in case of a school shooting. Campus law enforcement and other officials are taking part in the two day Alice Training, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. The program provides people with survival-enhancing options for those moments after a violent situation begins but before law enforcement arrives. “We can run away, we can evacuate, we can fortify the location we’re in, and as a last resort, we can use counter-strategy, psychological and physical on the bad guy to incapacitate him,” said Joe Chavalia, Alice Training Institute.
