FSU Reflects on Campus Safety

On a chilly Saturday afternoon, Fairmont State University is quiet and peaceful. But after Thursday’s fatal mass shooting at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon,some students are wondering what would happen if that peace was ever disrupted. “We do have lockdown drills every semester. We also do what’s called ALICE Training, and ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evade [Evacuate]. It’s kind of just an up-step of what a lockdown drill is,” said John Nigh, a campus police officer. Students agree that it’s good to have training and preparation sessions. Read more
