Hermiston School Practices Reuniting Students, Parents in Wake of Emergency

A Hermiston school shooting training exercise took a step toward realism Thursday, and the school district plans to expand it over the next couple of years. Two Hermiston police sergeants and the school resource officer last week completed new training dealing with a mass shooter. Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston said ALICE gives more tools for surviving. A couple of cops on the scene are to work as a team to take out the threat, Edmiston said, and ALICE shows students and staff running for it might be safer than hiding, or even countering the shooter with an attack of their own.
