Hillside Elementary – Eagle Point, OR
This year, teachers are using unique methods like picture books to teach kids tools for active shooter scenarios. The program is called ALICE training. ALICE stands for Alert, Lock down, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Administrators and teachers were trained in active shooter scenarios over the summer. Now they are going to be passing some of their knowledge to the classrooms. Teachers say the information will be child friendly, elementary level students learning through books and discussion.
