The course is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24. Christy Clark, the school resource officer for the St. Genevieve School District, became a certified ALICE instructor last summer. Since then, she has led ALICE training events for district employees. She remarked on the program’s strategy of being proactive when responding to violent intruder events. When it comes to violent intruder situations, preparation is key to helping increase the chances for survival, she said. “Unfortunately, we have to realize there are active intruders and shooters in schools, churches, hospitals and colleges,” Clark said. “I think it’s just something that we might not be able to prevent, but we can be trained on how to react if that situation were to occur.” Read more
