ALICE — Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate — is the new standard in some school districts, including Appleton, for handling “violent intruders and active shooters” in our schools. To me, a parent, it seems like a solid strategy and one that offers the possibility of a better outcome. It’s just they aren’t easy conversations to have.
