If you are ever caught in an active shooting scene experts say you will either fight, flee or freeze. Making the right decision could save your life. Johnny Lee Smith teaches law enforcement defense strategies across seven states, including in Alabama. He is the president of SSGT Defensive Tactics out of Cullman. Lee suggests planning ahead before you are ever confronted by an active shooter. When you’re in a public place identify potential exits, barricades or barriers to hide behind. Lee says the only way you’re going to avoid freezing during a potential dangerous situation is to think about it ahead of time.
