SEK Inc. membership director Steve Kosman said the incident compelled the organization to move forward the informational meeting to provide regional businesses, industries, organizations and agencies with strategies to help them and their employees survive such an attack.“It kind of started with Neil giving a presentation to the Parsons Rotary. We were pretty interested in what he had to say … and passed that on to the SEK Inc. Board of Directors,” Kosman said. “They agreed it was a good thing for our service organization to provide. We thought this would be good for the entire organization. A new method to increase chances for civilian survivability was needed, which led police officer Greg Crane to develop ALICE, a proactive response to man-made threats. A veteran of Operation Desert Storm and law enforcement officer for 18 years, Springer said the ALICE training was the most thought provoking training he had ever been through, and he can still visualize the scenarios.
