The Springfield News-Sun provides more information on the West Liberty-Salem HS Shooting. The event ended quickly, which was credited to school staff members for acting quickly and preventing further injuries. Champaign County Sheriff Matt Melvin was quoted to say, “on our arrival [school staff members] had the threat neutralized. They had [the offender] pinned down on the ground.”
Our hearts go out to the families in West Liberty and the surrounding communities. We are thankful that our training and our knowledge was passed onto West Liberty Schools prior to this event.
